Thomas C. Wise

Board Member

Thomas C. Wise is an entrepreneur and senior agribusiness executive with more than 25 years of experience spanning crop insurance, agricultural risk management, sales leadership, and business development. Raised in Rock Island, Illinois, Tom learned the value of hard work early while helping in his father's pizza restaurant a background that shaped both his work ethic and his long-standing appreciation for craftsmanship and discipline.

Tom earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing from Augustana College, where he was also a two-sport athlete in basketball and baseball. He later completed his Master of Business Administration at St. Ambrose University. While still in college, Tom demonstrated an entrepreneurial mindset by co-founding AquArena, a niche consumer product venture that achieved early retail success, including a trial run with Walmart an experience that provided a formative education in product development, marketing, and distribution.

Tom began his professional career as an insurance agent with Country Companies, quickly distinguishing himself as a top producer before joining John Deere. Over an 11-year tenure at Deere, he held a series of progressively senior roles across information systems, commercial equipment, golf and turf, and ultimately crop insurance. As Midwest Division Sales Manager for John Deere Crop Insurance, Tom played a key role in scaling the business from startup to a major operation, growing divisional sales from $14 million to more than $60 million and recruiting high-performing agency partners across multiple states.

For the past two decades, Tom has focused primarily on crop insurance and agricultural risk management, serving in executive and national leadership roles with organizations including FamilyFarms Group, Harvest Risk Management, AgriLogic, ProAg, and AmTrust Ag. As National Sales Manager at AmTrust Ag, he led a multi-state sales organization and helped grow a recently acquired book of business from $50 million to $140 million in just two sales seasons while serving on the executive leadership team.

Seeking a more balanced and entrepreneurial chapter, Tom later acquired and operates a crop insurance agency based in Sparta, Wisconsin, where he continues to serve producers while growing the business strategically. He is also a founding investor in Ag Farmacy, an agricultural input company serving farmers in Illinois. Since its inception, Ag Farmacy has experienced significant growth, and Tom remains actively involved in advising the business alongside founder Henry Carius. His son, Kyle, has joined the company, making the venture especially meaningful on a personal level.

Tom has been married to his wife, Tracey, for over 30 years. They have three married children and three grandchildren. Outside of work, Tom enjoys spending time with family, traveling, golfing, and hunting whitetail deer. He remains deeply grateful for the opportunities he has been given and is passionate about building businesses that serve people well and endure over time.
